2013-14 AMI Grant Round Now Open

The AMI's 2013/14 grant round is now open for submissions until 5:00pm (AEST) Wednesday 1 May 2013.

Applications are invited for projects commencing between 1 July 2013 and 30 June 2014.

The AMI Advisory Board will consider applications at its June Board Meeting with applicants notified of the success, or otherwise, of their applications by 14 July 2013.

Invitation for Applications for the AMI Cultural Exchange Program. Closing Date extended to 12 April 2013 with program expected to run from 9 – 15 June 2013.

7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ (APT7)

The Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ (APT) is the Queensland Art Gallery’s flagship international contemporary art project focusing on contemporary art in the Asian Pacific regions.

This year the APT7 will present works by more than 140 artists and AMI is funding two Malaysian artists Roslisham Ismail (aka Ise) and Phuan Thai Meng.

Roslisham Ismail will develop a cookbook based on time spent with a range of families in his home state of Kelantan, as well as work closely with the Gallery’s Children’s Art Centre in developing a limited edition children’s menu especially for Kids’ APT7.

Phuan Thai Meng will create his largest painting to date, a 10-metre mural featuring a photorealist image of city freeways and flyovers., commissioned especially for APT7.

About the Australia-Malaysia Institute

The Australia-Malaysia Institute was established in 2005 to strengthen people-to-people and institutional links with Malaysia and to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation between Australia and Malaysia.

The AMI is a wholly Australian initiative and is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The Institute works with institutions and individuals in Australia and Malaysia to achieve its objectives. The Institute also seeks to enter into strategic alliances with possible sponsors and partners to enhance its programs.

The Australia-Malaysia Institute is presided over by a Board appointed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

The Institute is supported by a Secretariat which is located in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra.
