Australia-China Council

The Australia-China Council (ACC) was established by the Australian Government in 1978 to promote mutual understanding and foster people-to-people relations between Australia and China.

The Australia-China Council Chair speaks to China's Global Times Newspaper

The Chairman of the Australia-China Council, The Hon Warwick Smith AM gave an extensive interview to the Global Times newspaper. The interview is a part of the special report on Australia resulted from the visit to the country by the Global Times journalists.

Foundation for Australian Studies in China

The Council is proud to support the establishment of the Foundation for Australian Studies in China (FASIC).

The Foundation is an independent non-profit foundation in Australia established to support Australian Studies Centres located across China and to provide funding and other support to the BHP Billiton Chair of Australian Studies located at Peking University in Beijing, People's Republic of China.

The Australia-China Council 2012-2013 grant round is closed

The Australia-China Council is proud to support the Lowy Institute's third China Changing Lecture, presented by one of China's leading economists, Professor David Daokui Li on 19 April 2012 in Sydney

In 2012 China Changing Lecture, Professor Li discussed China's role in the changing global economic system.

Professor Li is a leading Chinese economist. He is Mansfield Freeman Chair Professor and head of the Department of Finance of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, as well as the Director of the Centre for China in the World Economy at Tsinghua University. In 2010 he was appointed as one of three academics to the People's Bank of China monetary policy committee. Li holds a PhD in economics from Harvard University.

Australian Studies in China

The ACC has been supporting Australian Studies in China for over two decades and provides funding to a network of over twenty-five Australian Studies Centres across China to promote greater knowledge and understanding of Australia in China.

Australian Studies in China - Competitive Project Grants

Competitive Project grants are awarded to individuals or collaborative teams for specific projects to be undertaken in the forthcoming year. Grants can be awarded for research projects; curriculum and faculty staff development; publishing subsidies; and other Australian Studies initiatives (including special events, public lectures and conferences, website development, and other activities to promote Australian Studies).
