20th Anniversary of the Australia-India Council

2012 marks the 20th Anniversary of the AIC. To commemorate this significant milestone, the Council is celebrating through the support of an exhibition, Kindness/Udarta Australia-India Cultural Exchange and the publication, Kindness/Udarta which provides a tangible record of 20 years of the AIC-supported cultural exchange program.

The exhibition was launched in India in March 2012. Over 200 people attended the opening at the Visual Arts Gallery at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. RMIT Gallery Director Suzanne Davies (and AIC board member) said the work in Kindness/Udarta Australia-India Cultural Exchange was extraordinary, and reflected the openness and diversity of the forces behind the initial cultural exchange.

The exhibition was staged in Canberra from 31 May and then moves to Melbourne, RMIT Gallery from July to August.

Foreign Minister Carr and the His Excellency Mr Biren Nanda, Indian High Commissioner, spoke at a reception to launch the exhibition in Canberra on 31 May.
