Provision of services

The timely provision of protocol services by the department continued to draw positive comment from the diplomatic and consular corps. Efficient processing of visa and accreditation matters, responsiveness to security concerns and support for incoming heads of mission, both Canberra-based and non-resident, were appreciated. The department’s handling of sensitive issues relating to staff welfare and its proactive approach in briefing the corps on community issues were also welcomed. The volume and range of inquiries received from foreign missions and posts reflected the active and constructive dialogue between the corps and the department.
