George Mina is the Australian Ambassador to UNESCO and Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy Paris. He also serves as non-resident Ambassador to Chad and as non-resident Ambassador to the Central African Republic.
George is a senior career officer of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Previous positions have included Assistant Secretary, Trade Policy, Assistant Secretary Services and Intellectual Property. He served as Senior Adviser to the Australian Minister for Trade in Parliament House Canberra (2007-2009). He has held postings as Counsellor, Australian Mission to the World Trade Organization, Geneva (2004-2007) and Deputy Head of Mission, Australian Embassy Cairo (1999-2002).
George holds a Masters degree in International Relations from the Australian National University, an Honours degree in economics from the University of Melbourne and a Diploma of Modern Languages (French) from the University of New England. He speaks French and Arabic. He is married with three children.
