Mr Remo Moretta commenced as the Deputy High Commissioner, Australian High Commission in New Zealand in April 2012. Prior to this appointment, Mr Moretta was Assistant Secretary Agriculture and Food and Australia's Senior Agriculture Negotiator.
Before taking up that position he was the Director of the Free Trade Agreements, Commitments and Implementation Section in the Office of Trade Negotiations from 2009-10.
In 2006 Mr Moretta was appointed Counsellor, Trade at the Embassy of Australia, Washington DC. From 2003-06 he held the position of Director, WTO Regional and Free Trade Agreements Section in the Office of Trade Negotiations.
Mr Moretta's first overseas appointment was to Geneva (1998-02) where he served as First Secretary at the Australian Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organisation. He was appointed to this position from the Services and Intellectual Property Branch, Office of Trade Negotiations.
Mr Moretta holds a Bachelor of Social (Political) Science.
