Mr Dutton is a career public servant with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has been Deputy Head of Mission in Manila since August 2013.
Mr Dutton has previously served overseas in Washington (2010-13) and UN New York (2002-2005).
Before taking up his current role in Manila, Mr Dutton was Minister-Counsellor in Washington, a role in which he was responsible for the Embassy's work with the US Government across Australia's foreign policy agenda. Prior to that, he was Assistant Secretary, Trade Policy Branch.
Mr Dutton holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Macquarie University and a PhD from Melbourne University. He is married with two children.
