Julie Heckscher took up the position of Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian High Commission in Singapore in September 2010.
Ms Heckscher was most recently Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian High Commission in Ottawa. Prior to this, Ms Heckscher was Director of the Administrative and Domestic Law Section (2007-2010), Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy in Moscow (2006-2007), Director of the Climate Change Section (2001-2004), and Second Secretary at the Australian Embassy in Moscow (1998-2001).
Ms Heckscher joined DFAT in 1995 after working for some years as a commercial lawyer in private practice. Ms Heckscher holds a Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Law (Honours) from the University of Tasmania, a Master's Degree in Arts (International Relations) from Monash University, and is undertaking an Executive Master's Degree in Public Administration through the Australian and New Zealand School of Government.
Ms Heckscher is married with one daughter.
