Australian produced exports of primary products rose 18.1 per cent or $30.1 billion in 2011, reaching a record $196 billion for the year, according to new figures released by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade today.

Visit to Oman and Saudi Arabia

Senator Carr recently visited Oman and Saudi Arabia. During his visit, he met Foreign Minister Alawi at the Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In Saudi Arabia, Senator Carr met Saudi Foreign Minister HRH Prince Saud Al-Faisal in Jeddah on 12 June 2012.

Visit to Naypyitaw

Foreign Minister Bob Carr travelled to Naypyitaw to meet with Myanmar's President Thein Sein, Foreign Minister with U Wunna Maung Lwin (pictured) and other parliamentary figures.
He announced a range of initiatives - lifting of Australia's remaining targeted travel and financial sanctions for Myanmar as well as aid initiatives focused on support for human rights, education and peace-building.

Senator Carr is this week visiting Myanmar. During his visit, he will meet senior figures in the Myanmar Government, Parliamentary leaders and political reformists and civil society representatives.
In Yangon, Senator Carr met Myanmar parliamentarian Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at her home.
