AustCham China Scholarship Program

Fostering the next generation of Asia-literate leaders

The China-Australia Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Australia-China Council and ANZ Bank offer the unique opportunity for Australian students to work in China.

The AustCham China Scholarship Program provides a comprehensive career development platform designed to foster the next generation of Sino-Australian business leaders. By integrating individuals into the Australia-China business community from a graduate level, AustCham aims to cultivate greater mutual cultural understanding and respect through people-to-people links that will carry through to the highest levels of management in both countries.

Since 2010, the AustCham China Scholarship Program has allowed 23 of Australia’s top graduates from across a range of academic disciplines to undertake traineeship in China. All recipients have demonstrated exceptional academics, extra curricular excellence and the potential to become future Australia-China business leaders.

“With our long term strategies in place I am confident the Scholarship will continue to thrive into the next decade and evolve into one of the most sought after, China focused career development platforms for young Australians”.

David Olsson, Chairman of the China-Australia chamber of Commerce

“Working as an Australian in an Australian bank in China has provided me with a unique perspective on how culture shapes leadership.  My biggest realization is that being a leader doesn’t stem from your position and it does not refer to a title on your business card.  Leadership is about taking the initiative and going above and beyond what is expected of you.  Furthermore, being a leader requires that you can demonstrate honesty and integrity, and value the contributions of your peers.  If people don’t have faith in your qualities then you can never be a leader.”
