Performing Arts (Music and Dance) Tour 2017: Expressions of interest now open

30 August 2017

The Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) is seeking expressions of interest from artists, producers and festival and venue programmers in the music and dance fields to participate in the 2017 Performing Arts Tour of Indonesia. Emerging Indonesian dance and music is rising in international prominence, particularly in festivals and arts centres in Western Europe and the Asia Pacific region, including Australia.

The 2017 tour will establish linkages with like-minded contemporary artists, producers and potential partners. The tour, which runs from 7-12 November, will include a range of performances, showcases, briefings and discussions in Jakarta and Bandung.

The AII will provide return airfares from Australian capital city, accommodation, meals and travel while in Indonesia during the week long program.

Applicants should clearly outline how their participation will:

  • build awareness and understanding of Indonesian contemporary arts and culture among Australia arts festival directors, producers and programmers;
  • increase Indonesian content at Australian arts festivals and art centres; and
  • encourage greater collaboration between Australian and Indonesian artists and organisations in the creation and presentation of new work.

Expressions of interest of no more than one page should be submitted to by 5pm on the 22 September 2017.  Queries regarding the tour or program should be provided to by 19 September 2017.

The AII fosters links between Australia and Indonesia, increases cultural awareness and further strengthens the already close relationship between our nations.  More information about the Institute is available on the Australia-Indonesia Institute webpage
