The New Colombo Plan mobility program provides funding opportunities for Australian universities and consortia to provide grants to Australian undergraduate students to participate in semester based or short term study, internships, mentorships, practicums and research in 38 host locations across the Indo-Pacific region.
New Colombo Plan 2016 mobility grants announced
In 2016 around $20 million in New Colombo Plan mobility grants are being awarded to Australian universities to support students to study and undertake work-based experiences in the Indo-Pacific region. Projects that support long term study, internships, language acquisition and that attract private sector in-kind or financial sponsorship have been prioritised. Multi-year funding was made available for the first time and is supporting mobility projects that may be delivered for up to three years.
The program is open to Australian undergraduates aged 18-28 at Australian universities, with capacity to include some students over 28.
Full details of mobility grants awarded under the 2016 round will be published here as soon as formal offers have been accepted by Australian universities.
Please note that the Sample Project Schedule is being updated and will be released soon.
Undergraduate students interested in the 2016 round of the New Colombo Plan should contact their university's international liaison office.
