28 September 2012

The Australian Embassy in Belgium arranged four screenings of the Australian film Coral: ReKindling Venus at the Planetarium of the Royal Observatory of Belgium in Brussels to mark Researcher's Night 2012, an EU-sponsored initiative aimed at increasing interest in science careers.

The Planetarium's Researcher's Night 2012 featured a free family-oriented program of activities which, as well as the film, included specially choreographed dance performances, a debate on women in space with women NASA astronauts and displays. About 400 people attended including some from academia, government bodies and EU institutions.

The event was one of hundreds held in 350 cities across Europe. The screening in Belgium was a follow-up to the world wide launch of the film on World Environment Day 2012.
