Free Trade Agreement training provider grants
Minister Ciobo has announced that 14 Australian organisations have received grants, worth over $1.3m, to deliver training projects focused on building SME knowledge about our North Asia FTAs. These training activities will assist SMEs understand the benefits of the FTAs and how to utilise them. A further round of grants applications will open mid-2016.
New look business envoy launches with a focus on Iran
The latest edition of business envoy turns the spotlight on trade opportunities with Iran after the lifting of a range of sanctions. The publication also outlines DFAT’s trade and investment priorities for the year; an analysis of Australia’s FTAs with Japan and Korea’s one year on and a beneficial WTO agreement for Australian farmers.
Inaugural Australia United States Business Week
Minister Ciobo was in the United States last month leading over 200 Australian business delegates for the inaugural Australia United States Business Week 2016 (AUSBW 16). AUSBW 16 allowed delegates to directly inform US investors and potential collaborators about the opportunities in Australia as well as learn more about the US market.

Tourism Australia remains at the forefront of destination marketing
Senator Colbeck has congratulated Tourism Australia for winning the Destination Marketing Award, for the fourth year running, at Routes Asia in Manila. The award recognises Tourism Australia’s outstanding destination marketing activities and joint cooperative campaigns with over 200 industry partnerships.
Chinese comedian gives wine producers massive boost in export sales
The ABC reports that Chinese comedian Guo Degang plans to export 800,000 bottles of his own private label wines, made in Victoria, to the Chinese market. This is expected to significantly boost Victorian wine exports with the initial shipment of 15,000 bottles selling out in one hour. Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons hopes that Mr Guo’s venture will also lead to a tourism boost for the region.

Did you know in 2015, the top three export destinations for Australian wine by volume were the United Kingdom, United States and China, with almost 479 million litres between them. That’s the equivalent of around 638 million standard bottles of wine.
