Deputy Head of Mission, New Zealand

Ms Kirsty McNeil

Ms McNeil is Australia’s Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian High Commission Wellington. Prior to taking up this position she was an Assistant Secretary in the Office of the Pacific.

Ms McNeil is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She previously served overseas in Suva, Fiji, from 2009 to 2012, and in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 2002-2005. In Canberra, Ms McNeil has undertaken a range of positions across both policy and corporate areas. She has been the Assistant Secretary of Latin America and Canada Branch, Director of DFAT’s Crisis Management and Contingency Planning Section and Director of the Marine Environment Section.

Ms McNeil holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University. She commenced in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as a Graduate Trainee in 1999. She speaks Spanish.
