Jenny Bloomfield took up her position as Director of the Victoria State Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in February 2016. From August 2011 until July 2014 Ms Bloomfield was Australia’s Ambassador to Greece, with non-resident accreditation to Albania, Bulgaria and Romania. In Canberra Ms Bloomfield’s previous positions include acting First Assistant Secretary, Office for Women, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (2015), Assistant Secretary, Human Rights and Gender Equality Branch (2014), and Assistant Secretary, Middle East Branch (2010-11). Ms Bloomfield has previously served overseas in Japan, Argentina (as a spouse) and Iran.
Ms Bloomfield holds a Master of Arts in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University, a Bachelor of Letters in Political Science and French, and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) / Bachelor of Arts in Modern Greek from the University of Melbourne. Ms Bloomfield speaks Greek, French, Spanish, Italian, Farsi and Japanese. She is married with four children.
