20 August 2018 Questions can be asked through the round. The cut off for questions is 9:00am 20 August 2018.
6:00pm (AEST) 28 August 2018 Applications close.
November 2018* Successful and unsuccessful applicants notified
November 2018* Signing of grant agreements between DFAT and successful applicants
December 2018* Friendship Grants Bootcamp – compulsory for grant recipients
From December 2018* Round 1 Friendship Grants activities commence
June 2019* Mid-term reports due from grant recipients
December 2019* Friendship Grants Learning Forum – compulsory for grant recipients. Round 1 Friendship Grant funding expended
January 2020* Final reports due from grant recipients

Applicants were encouraged to carefully read the Friendship Grants Guidelines before starting and submitting an application.

Selection process

Grants will be awarded through a merit-based selection process in-line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines. The Friendship Grants aim to reflect the geographic, cultural and organisational diversity of Australia. Applications are encouraged from a wide range of community organisations.
