Australian volunteers play a vital role in the fight against poverty and contribute to the Government’s public diplomacy objectives. Volunteering overseas is one way that Australians can make a positive contribution to poverty reduction, sustainable development and cross-cultural understanding. DFAT is currently working in partnership with Scope Global to deliver the Australian Volunteers program in Cambodia.
Australian Volunteers are placed with host organisations, including non-government and civil society organisations, educational institutions and government departments. Australian volunteers are from a wide range of professions, with diverse skill sets and experiences and assignments range from three to 24 months.
In 2018, there were 34 DFAT volunteers in Cambodia.
