Overview

Australia will invest to assist Sri Lanka overcome high-levels of gender inequality. We will work to ensure female labour force participation rates improve to capitalise on existing high rates of female education. We will seek to address the underlying drivers of gender inequality, including social and economic exclusion and inter-communal and domestic based violence, across all our programs. A Gender Action Plan for the Sri Lanka program will be developed in 2016 to ensure that the collective efforts of the Australian Government in Sri Lanka further gender equality.
