Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program (AAMEP)

The Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program provides the opportunity for emerging Muslim leaders in Australia and from ASEAN countries to participate in a community-based program of dialogue, intellectual and cultural exchange.

Delegates will experience a program reflecting the diversity of multicultural Australia and Muslim communities in Southeast Asia. Emerging community leaders such as individuals involved in non-government organisations, charities, mosques, Islamic schools, universities, as well as authors, artists, and academics are encouraged to apply.

The AAMEP draws on an 18-year history of the Australia-Malaysia, Australia-Thailand and the Australia-Indonesia Muslim Exchange Programs. These programs are unique in their focus on building friendship and understanding between the Muslim communities of Australia and ASEAN.

2019 AAMEP applications open

The 2019 Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program is open to emerging Muslim leaders from Australia and three ASEAN countries — currently Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

The program will be conducted in two separate application rounds, one for Australians and one for citizens of Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Delegate costs including flights, accommodation, transfers and meals will be covered by the program.
