Australia-China Media Exchange project will build on the 2016 pilot program, allowing young Chinese journalists to engage in open dialogue with Walkley winning journalists as well as providing lasting benefits for all parties by facilitating an ongoing exchange of ideas and expertise.
Three award winning journalists will travel to China and present a series of masterclasses and round tables to allow Chinese journalism students and young professionals to engage with Walkley Award winning journalists. This program allows those involved to speak candidly about issues such as ethics, best practice journalism, risk and the impact of digital in newsrooms in both China and Australia. The exchange also allows the senior Australian journalists to develop ideas for more diverse and human stories on China, which are lacking in the Australian media.
