Project summary

'SNAP Australian Photographers in China' is a comprehensive survey show carefully designed to celebrate the strength and breadth of the Australia China bilateral relationship on it's 45th anniversary whilst revisiting some of the highlights of the Australia China Council's programs.

The SNAP project will create a strong historical foundation based upon George Morrison’s iconic 1894 images complimented by the 1904 stereographic images of George Rose. The project will involve collaboration through artist gatherings, complimentary exhibitions and exchanges with artists and curators from the Dali region (including Kunming and Lijiang).

The Consulate in Chengdu will assist in facilitating the development of further touring opportunities and an interactive public program to encourage dialogue and enhance understanding of Australian society.
