The Australia-Indonesia Youth Association is a non‐government, youth-led organisation which aims to better connect young Australians and Indonesians to each other and related opportunities.
AIYA has active chapters in every Australian state and territory, as well as Jakarta, Jawa Barat, Yogyakarta and Eastern Indonesia. AIYA chapter events are the primary platform to bridge the community, education, business and government sectors involved in the bilateral relationship. Our activities target university students and young professionals actively seeking to engage in the Australia-Indonesia community. Our mission is to connect, inform and inspire.
AIYA’s flagship initiative, National Australia Indonesia Language Awards (NAILA), is an annual Indonesian language speech competition that rewards and fosters the development of Indonesian language studies in Australia from primary school up to executive levels. VIP judges select the winners of each category who are invited to participate in a national awards ceremony and networking program. In 2017, NAILA will reveal new award categories for ‘Teachers’ & ‘Senior Executives’ and launch the Leaders’ Showcase & Language in Practice Program.
Together, NAILA and AIYA create a wider range of people with knowledge about Indonesia and Indonesian language in Australia, and promote through media and educational activities opportunities for future leaders in both countries.
