Project description

Re-Connecting our Connection 2018 continues the relationship building between Indonesian artists and Yolngu artists and community through workshops in East Arnhem Land. After the success of Suara Indonesia Dance workshops and performance program in Oct-Nov 2015/16 in Yirrkala and surrounding township schools, the community welcomes Suara to return and further explore connections through performing arts. Suara would like to do more collaboration with local Yolgnu artists and community, conducting workshops to reconnect Indonesian-Aboriginal ties in this region. Suara will also bring Yogyakarta batik artist, Bagus Bagonk Prabowo to Yirrkala teaching his batik making skills with Yirrkala community and through past connections through trading.
