Arts Centre Melbourne presents a huge pop concert in the Sidney Myer Music Bowl to mark the start of the university year and welcome international students.
Big music acts include a special appearance by virtual Japanese pop star IA.
Free for students, Asia Pop Fest celebrates all aspects of popular culture, with dance competitions, a gaming lounge and food trucks. Asia Pop Fest is an event for all of Melbourne to enjoy – from local and international students, to Asia Pop die-hards and the pop-curious.
From 5-7pm, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl will host activities for international students and their friends, including a Melbourne info zone, an acoustic stage and the official Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome.
From 7pm, as the sun goes down, it’s time to move to the mainstage for a huge line-up of popstars from the stages of Tokyo as well as from Seoul and Singapore.
An event of this size and scope has never been held anywhere in Australia, and where better to celebrate international students than in a city where they have transformed the cultural landscape of our CBD.
