Project description

West Australian Ballet is establishing a new Knowledge Exchange Program with Japan that enables aspiring Japanese dance students to gain access to advanced level coaching and an insight into life at a professional ballet company. The project also supports the development of Australian-Japanese cultural relations and promotion of Australian artistic excellence by enabling the continued association of West Australian Ballet Artistic Director, Aurelien Scannella, with the prestigious ballet competition, the Youth America Grand Prix in Asia and its representatives.

  • Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) Asia representatives visit to West Australian Ballet, Perth, Western Australia, 16 to 18 October 2017
  • YAGP Asia semi-final held, Osaka, Japan, 17 to 22 November 2017
  • Participation of Japanese dance students in advanced level coaching at West Australian Ballet, Perth, Western Australia, 16 to 21 March 2017
  • Formal reception tied to visit of Japanese students with AJF and Aus-Japan Society, Perth, Western Australia, 16 March 2018
