The Australian by Degree – Australian Global Alumni video profile series is the result of a new partnership between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) International Television.
Profiles can be viewed on the Australia Global Alumni YouTube channel and the Australia Global Alumni website, by searching Australian by Degree.
The video profile series captures the inspirational first-person stories of successful alumni from the Indo-Pacific and Africa who are now making a positive difference back in their home countries.
Australian by Degree profile stories have strong personal interest and make for vibrant and interesting television.
The series covers fashion designers, scientists in the field, news broadcasters, pastry chefs, dance teachers, and heads of non-government organisations working with indigenous people.
Australian by Degree will be screened on ABC International Television’s Australia Plus network over the next two years.
The alumni profiles show how an Australian education is helping our global alumni contribute to nation-building and development both in their own countries and across the region.
This first series of Australian by Degree includes 39 video profiles of Australian global alumni from 12 countries. Countries include Fiji, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Kenya, Zambia and South Africa.
As well as being screened on Australia Plus, the video profiles will be distributed in various forms both domestically and internationally via a range of communication channels, including:
- DFAT’s Australia Global Alumni website and the DFAT website; and
- via local in-country broadcasters such as TV5 Philippines.
