In 2010, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Football Federation of Australia and the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) supporting development, cooperation, and the use of football as a vehicle to develop better bilateral relations at government level.

Through an Australia Awards Fellowship, FFA has strengthened its ties with PSSI by hosting PSSI members at their offices in Australia. Through the secondment, members have been able to increase their knowledge and expertise in sports management and governance based on Australian best practice. Through the experience the FFA and PSSI fostered a deeper intercultural understanding of the Australian and Indonesian sporting environments and developed a closer working relationship.

For both the FFA and PSSI, the fellowships have provided a unique opportunity for personal and professional development, while increasing cooperation and goodwill.
