Cricket Development Officers from Fiji, Samoa, PNG and Vanuatu arrived in Australia in November 2015 as part of the Pacific Cricket Fellowship Program. The program aims to up-skill leading sports administrators from the Pacific to ensure strong program planning, management and implementation, as well as enhancing the ongoing organisational development of National Cricket Boards.
“In Australia, the children join a club, but in Samoa there is no club for kids to join. I am very surprised at a number of things here in Australia including the high level of parental support and involvement, the skill level of the children and the overall cricket structure—encouraging development from a young age right through to adulthood.” Marica Vua, Development Officer, Cricket Fiji.
