The Australian Paralympic Committee has run a short course program for sporting leaders within the Pacific and Caribbean to help them deliver comprehensive and sustainable sports programs.
Supported by the Australia Awards, participants have learned about promoting positive community outcomes through physical activity. Fellows undertook training on program development that supports the participation of minority groups including women and people with a disability.
The program also established a mentor network to encourage fellows to adopt a lifelong approach to learning by building professional linkages with their counterparts in Australia.
The Australian Paralympic Committee is recognised throughout the Australasian region as a leading sports organisation able to develop sustainable and viable programs that encourage active participation. The committee will continue to provide ongoing support and leadership to leaders in the Pacific and Caribbean.
