Fijian para table tennis star Mere Roden using sport to break down barriers

On International Day of People with Disability (3 December 2015), Mere's story demonstrates the important role that sport can play in encouraging disability inclusion, gender equality and empowerment in the Pacific. Only a year ago, Mere Roden had never played table tennis. Thanks to an international sports development initiative called Smash Down Barriers, part of Australia’s Pacific Sports Partnerships (PSP) program delivered by Table Tennis Australia and the Oceania Table Tennis Federation, Mere had the opportunity to try her hand at the sport, and the results speak for themselves.
