Australia has been recognised for its innovative sport for development program Just Play, winning a Foundation for Children Award. The Union of European Football Associations honors organisations that are working to improve the lives of children in the Pacific.
In Vanuatu, the Just Play program gives kids the chance to play football while helping them heal from Tropical Cyclone Pam. During group sharing sessions the children talk about their cyclone experiences and hear community safety messages. Football clinics like these have reached more than 210,000 children across 11 Pacific Island countries, tackling a broad range of social issues and giving kids the chance to just play.
