World Economic Outlook: Global economy to grow 3.2 per cent in 2016
Global economic growth continues, albeit at a slow-moving pace, according to the IMF’s latest World Economic Outlook (WEO). Driven primarily by emerging markets and developing economies, growth of 3.2 per cent is projected in 2016, strengthening to 3.5 per cent 2017.
Trade growth to remain subdued in 2016
The WTO forecasts that the volume of world trade growth in 2016 will remain subdued at 2.8%, however it is expected to rise to 3.6% in 2017. Risks to these forecasts are mostly downside, such as a sharper than expected slowdown in China, although there are also some upside risks.
