Robb returns to India for trade talks

Minister Robb is in India continuing to build support to finalise a strong and mutually-beneficial Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA). In 2013-14 India was Australia’s 12th largest trading partner, with two-way trade worth approximately $15 billion.

Major tourism wins in Northern Australia White Paper

Minister Robb welcomed the benefits the Northern Australia White Paper will have for Australia’s tourism industry.  The White Paper includes visitor visa reforms, increased support services to northern tourism businesses and actions to attract more investment and provide better access to skilled labour.

Australia's latest international visitor numbers

A record seven million international arrivals was reached during the year ending March 2015 according to new ABS data. The 8 per cent increase for the period was driven by the Cricket World Cup and Chinese New Year, Australia trialling a joint visa with New Zealand and a newly concluded air services deal.

International education services exports reach record high

ABS data shows a record high of $17.6 billion in exports of international education services was reached in 2014. Approximately $600 million of this was from services delivered by Australian providers overseas, with the remaining $17 billion derived from nearly 600,000 international student enrolments.

World Bank to help Pacific Island countries improve resilience to natural disasters

The World Bank will provide US$32.3 million to support a series of projects to strengthen Pacific Island countries’ resilience to natural disasters. The program will also address financial resilience and aims to develop additional financial products to complement existing finance and insurance programs.

Services exports to India rebounded in 2014 to $2.5 billion, up $569 million (almost 30%) on 2013.  This growth was the second-largest of any of Australia’s major services export markets (after China).
