The Investment Concept Note for a proposed second phase of the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Rural Economic Development (AIP-Rural II) program is provided for the information of the market and prospective tenderers.
The current phase of AIP-Rural will conclude in December 2018. This successful market development program aims to increase the incomes of 300,000 smallholder farm households by 30% in eastern Indonesia.
AIP-Rural II will transition to a simpler, consolidated program structure whilst retaining its 'Making Markets Work for the Poor' approach to target an additional 700,000 farm households in the second phase. The next phase of AIP-Rural also provides an opportunity to integrate lessons learned about working with the private sector, agricultural markets and systemic change.
The Program supports Australia's increased emphasis on economic growth in Indonesia, as described in the Aid Investment Plan, and complements DFAT's existing portfolio of investments in infrastructure, education, market access, governance, and women's economic empowerment.
The AIP-Rural II design process has commenced and is expected to be completed by the end of August 2017. An Investment Design Document will accompany a planned request for tender around September 2017 in accordance with the Annual Procurement Plan on the AusTender website and a market briefing will be scheduled.
