Support Unit for Gender Equality - update

The Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) for the Support Unit for Gender Equality (SURGE) has now closed and responses have been evaluated.

The following nine organisations have been shortlisted to proceed to the next step (in alphabetical order):

DFAT has a requirement for a Contractor to manage the implementation of the Support Unit for Gender Equality – SURGE.

It is anticipated that the Support Unit will start in March 2022 and run for an initial period of two years (2 year initial term + 3 year extension option). The Expression of Interest (EOI) DFAT-345 was issued on 27 October via AusTender (Current ATM View - DFAT-345: AusTender (tenders.gov.au). Please refer to AusTender for further information on the procurement.

Background

DFAT is calling for expressions of interest for the design and implementation of the Support Unit for Gender Equality (SURGE). The Support Unit will seek to strengthen the outcomes of Australia’s development program on gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment through the provision of high quality technical expertise. The Unit will help DFAT’s Gender Equality Branch ensure that DFAT staff have access to timely, high quality advice and resources to strengthen DFAT’s global, regional and bilateral development portfolio and policy engagement efforts related to gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment.

The services provided by the Support Unit will equip DFAT with evidence and bespoke tools and will support internal capacity to progress results for gender equality and women's empowerment in the aid program.

The Support Unit for Gender Equality would service all geographic areas.
