Mr Ewen McDonald

Mr Ewen McDonald was appointed as Australian High Commissioner to the Republic of Fiji and Special Envoy for the Pacific and Regional Affairs on 3 July 2023.

Mr McDonald is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was the inaugural Head of the Office of the Pacific. Prior to joining DFAT, Mr McDonald was Deputy Director General at AusAID and Deputy Secretary in the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace relations.

Mr McDonald has previously served as the Australian High Commissioner to New Zealand, with accreditation to the Cook Islands and Niue.

Mr McDonald holds a Bachelor of Business from Deakin University.
