Description

The report provides an update on the malaria situation nationally and by province in the Philippines, and outlines the program's progress in 2010. The report highlights that malaria cases in Roll Back Malaria (RBM) provinces had reduced by 54.5 per cent since 2007 and that malaria deaths had fallen 92.3 per cent in RBM provinces and 55.3 per cent in non-program provinces since 2005. In 2010, RBM results included: conducting training workshops in basic malaria management and microscopy; distributing bednets to high risk populations; developing an e-learning course on dengue for high school students; distributing school health kits; and helping the Department of Health to develop a medium-term workplan, improve program monitoring and evaluation and undertake additional malaria research.
