Australia Mongolia Extractives Program: Investment Design Document

Summary of publication

This Investment Design Document outlines potential activities under the Australia Mongolia Extractives Program (AMEP) that will assist Mongolia to manage its resource-led growth so that citizens experience equitable and sustainable benefits from mineral resources. The Program started in 2015.

Following the reductions to the Mongolia aid budget the planned activities under the AMEP facility have been scaled back to a three year investment focusing on one of the original two outcome areas–improved regulation, governance and stakeholder engagement by Mongolian government agencies. Should the available budget increase in future years, AMEP may be able to incorporate more of the design's intentions. The AMEP design is flexible to allow it to respond to changing circumstances.

The International Service Provider for AMEP will oversee the program including: setting up and managing an AMEP facility that will fund, sub-contract and manage technical assistance and engage with the government, mining sector and donors in Mongolia.
