Fiji Community Climate Change Adaptation Program: first progress report (World Wildlife Fund)

Summary of publication

This document reports progress of Australia-funded World Wildlife Fund project 'Building resilience: Strengthening community adaptation measures to effects of climate change in the Fiji Islands'.

This document reports activities under the initial phase of the project, including:

  • Guidance drafted on mangrove protection
  • Provincial targets and priority activities selected for land care, river care and mangrove conservation in Ba and Macuata
  • Work plan developed for National Disaster Management Office disaster preparedness activities in Labasa
  • World Wildlife Fund Pacific webpage and other communication products developed to promote the project
  • Memoranda of understanding signed for partnerships with Fiji National University and the National Trust for Fiji
  • Tikina (district)-level trainers trained in vulnerability assessment
  • Mangrove studies completed for 43.6 per cent of Ba delta.
