The Australian Indonesia Government Partnerships Fund (GPF) was established as part of the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Reconstruction and Development (AIPRD). The five-year, $50 million initiative facilitated partnerships between Commonwealth agencies in Australia and their counterparts in Indonesia, supporting capacity building and policy dialogue to support economic and financial reform. There has been strong involvement in the program from both sides–15 agencies have formed partnerships since mid-2005, two of which have been concluded. More than 5,800 Australian and Indonesian officials have exchanged expertise bilaterally and more than 230 seminars, training events, workshops and other events have been conducted.
A comprehensive Mid Term Review (MTR) of the GPF program was carried out in late 2007. The Independent Completion Report (ICR) reviewed these findings and selected GPF partnerships to determine what results had been achieved and identify factors which underpinned successful partnerships.
All of the ICR recommendations were accepted in the management response, many of which have been reflected in the GPF II design and implementation.
