Infrastructure Partnerships Program (IPP) and the Water and Sanitation Initiative (WSI) Global Program: independent evaluation

Summary of publication

This is an evaluation of the performance of trust funds to which Australia contributes under the Infrastructure Partnerships Program (IPP) and the Water and Sanitation Initiative (WSI) Global Program. Thirteen partnerships are assessed against eight criteria: relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, gender equality, monitoring and evaluation, governance and partner engagement, and analysis and learning.

The report found that the IPP and WSI programs support a diverse group of partnerships that fit well with Australia's objectives for aid.

The report also produced a number of recommendations including: the results frameworks need improvement; for a number of facilities, attention to gender equality should be improved; country Posts' interaction with partnerships could be more robust; and some strategic gaps remain to ensure a balanced portfolio of activities.
