In 2016-17, Australia provided an estimated $43 million in humanitarian and development assistance to the Palestinian Territories (PTs), which is a tangible demonstration of our long-standing support for the Middle East peace process.
This report provides a summary assessment of the performance of Australia's aid program in the PTs from July 2016 to June 2017 against the objectives in the Aid Investment Plan. It assesses achievements against the objectives of improving the public financial management of the Palestinian Authority; developing a more competitive agricultural economy; and supporting Palestinian refugees to access services. Australian assistance has helped to strength the economic and social foundations of a future Palestinian state that can provide jobs and essential services for its people. The report finds that the program is performing well despite the challenging development constraints in the PTs.
