Summary of publication
The investment design outlines DFAT (A$15.5m) and MFAT's (A$10m) joint support to the Samoa Education Sector from 2015 - 2018. The focus of the ESSP is to ensure that implementation of the Education Sector Plan will lead to improved outcomes in education at all levels, seen through:
- Increased numbers of children participating in Early Childhood Education and better prepared for learning at Year 1;
- More primary school children can read, write and count to national standards - Improved literacy and numeracy at years 4 and 6;
- Increase in percentage of children commencing in Year 1 and completing Year 8;
- Increased numbers of children with disabilities in inclusive classroom settings;
- More opportunities available to help secondary students progress to tertiary and technical vocational education- Increase in transition rates to post school education and training;
- Young Samoans are better prepared to enter the workforce - Increase in employment rates of graduates of PSET.
