Description
This document provides an overview of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community's strategic direction and priorities for serving its members during the five years from 2007 to 2012.
The Corporate Plan describes the Secretariat of the Pacific Community's core business as:
- developing human resources in the Pacific through training, advice and policy support
- supplementing national human resources where the population and/or national income are insufficient to provide effective public services
- facilitating regional coordination and information sharing on development.
The plan describes the Secretariat's activities and programs for 2007–2012 in three broad areas:
- member priorities–e.g. country strategies, decentralising beyond Noumea and Suva, and improving national and regional program coherence
- strategic engagement–e.g. regional partnerships, international policy representation and implementation, and matching donor priorities with Pacific country needs
- strategic positioning–e.g. organisational reform and management.
