The political economy of policy-making in Indonesia—Opportunities for improving the demand and use of knowledge

Summary of publication

In assessing the role knowledge plays in policy-making in Indonesia, this study undertakes to:

  1. describe formal policy processes
  2. uncover the realities or informal practices of policy processes
  3. assess the factors that motivate policy-makers to invest in, demand, and/or use knowledge in policy-making.

The study suggests who AusAID could work with and possible interventions on the demand side to strengthen the government's technical capacity. It suggests how AusAID could assess in more depth the opportunities for, and constraints on, improving the demand for and use of knowledge.
