Vanuatu Women's Centre – Program Progress Report 2

Summary of publication

This report provides a summary of program progress for the whole of year 1 (July 2012 to June 2013), and for the first 6 months of year 2 (July 2013 to December 2013). It also updates the future program of the Vanuatu Women's Centre (VWC) from January to June 2014 of year 2.

The following is a summary of progress towards outcomes and targets:

  • In this reporting period from July 2012 to December 2013, 3,607 counselling sessions were provided to clients: 98% were with women, 1.9% with girls and 0.3% with boys. This includes 1,420 new clients and 2,187 repeat counselling sessions.
  • In addition 2,769 people requested information, 19% of whom were girls and boys. 313 women and children were assisted to access justice and/or provided with protection from violence.
  • The VWC Network assisted 419 women to access Family Protection Orders (FPOs).
  • 28,240 participants in community awareness activities: this includes 14,622 women, 2,561 girls, 9,256 men and 1,801 boys. Overall, girls made up 21% of the 6,595 participants in VWC and Branch community awareness activities , and boys made up 20%.
