Feminist movement strengthening in the Pacific

The We Rise Coalition is a partnership between Pacific feminist organisations working to advance gender equality and the human rights of women (including women with disabilities) and people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and sexual characteristics. Supported by Australia, the We Rise Coalition brings together seven Pacific feminist organisations to amplify Pacific women’s leadership and voice to advance gender equality through organisational strengthening, movement building, and policy and institutional reform.

In 2023, the We Rise Coalition successfully co-facilitated the 3rd Pacific Feminist Forum. Over 150 feminists from 17 Pacific countries came together to jointly strategise on advancing gender equality in the Pacific. In the context of increasing resistance to gender equality globally, the Pacific Feminist Forum is an important collective space for feminist activists to collaborate and create positive change. The Pacific Feminist Forum Outcomes Statement sets out an advocacy roadmap to guide the work of Pacific feminist organisations nationally, regionally and globally.
