Bilateral relations

Australia and the Dominican Republic formally established diplomatic relations in 1997. Australia’s Ambassador in Mexico City holds non-resident accreditation to the Dominican Republic. Australia has an Honorary Consul in Santo Domingo.

The Dominican Republic’s Ambassador in Tokyo holds non-resident accreditation for Australia.

Australia and the Dominican Republic are members of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Trade Organisation (WTO) and United Nations (UN).

The Dominican Republic is a member of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, Forum for East-Asia Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Organisation of American States (OAS) and the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) grouping.
