Australia is partnering with Fiji to respond to the significant human development challenges it faces. We will continue to work closely with a wide range of partners, including UN agencies, multilateral and regional organisations, and CSOs that bring valuable expertise and experience in these sectors.

Australia-Fiji Health Program
AUD25 million, 2025-2029
The Australia-Fiji Health Program helps strengthen Fiji's health sector. It will target in-need community healthcare facilities, improve systems for the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to plan and allocate resources, and enhance digital health and supply chain management. It will support Fiji to increase focus on primary healthcare, non-communicable diseases and sexual and reproductive health and rights. It builds on the previous Fiji Health Program 2017-2024.

Australia-Fiji Education Program
AUD25 million, 2025-2029
The Australia-Fiji Education Program will strengthen Fiji's education sector. It will roll-out primary and secondary literacy and numeracy curriculum reforms, improve education quality, strengthen special and inclusive education, provide nine counselling hubs for schools and improve functionality and use of Fiji Education Management Information System (FEMIS). It builds on the previous Fiji Education Program 2017-2024.

Australia-Fiji Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion Program
AUD9.6 million, 2025-2029
The Australia-Fiji Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Program supports select Fiji Government ministries to mainstream GEDSI in their policies, programs and budgets. It has a focus on strengthening service delivery and public education for the prevention of violence against women and girls. The program also supports Fiji's implementation of the National Action Plan to Prevent Violence Against All Women and Girls.
Fiji Social Infrastructure Program
AUD32.25 million, 2024-2027
The Fiji Social Infrastructure Program is delivering critical infrastructure upgrades to schools and hospitals in Fiji. Through the Program, Australia has committed to comprehensive infrastructure upgrades at Suva Primary School, construction of a new secondary school at Davuilevu, new WASH facilities in 45 schools, and a new multipurpose community hall and evacuation centre in Natovi.
Through the Fiji Social Infrastructure Program, Australia is also delivering urgent upgrades to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, including roof repairs, increased reserve capacity for potable water, improved sanitation and upgrades to the Acute Patient Ward.
The Program will also build capacity of Asset Management Units in Fiji's Minister of Education and Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital Master Plan
AUD10 million, 2024-2026
In March 2024, Australia provided AUD10 million to fund an infrastructure master plan for the CWM Hospital – critical to secure financing for a new or refurbished CWM. The master plan will take up to 3 years to develop, and will include Clinical Services Plans, a Priority Infrastructure Plan (for current hospital), Redevelopment Options Analysis, Preliminary Master Plan and a Detailed Master Plan.

Pacific Australia Skills program
Up to AUD222.9 million, 2025-2030
Australia is a longstanding partner in education and training in Fiji and the Pacific. The new Pacific Australia Skills program will deliver Australian qualifications, build new partnerships between Pacific and Australian education and training systems and prepare people for employment opportunities at home and abroad.
Pacific Australia Skills is the successor to – and will build on the strong foundations of – the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC, 2018 – 2025 Stage 3, and approx. AUD250 million), Australia's previous regional skills investment which ran from 2007 and ended in March 2025. APTC delivered full Australian qualifications to more than 7,000 Fijians, upskilled more than 5,000 workers with short courses and microcredentials, and supported capability uplift in local training partners.
